Topic: Give Thanks to the Lord
Opening Prayer: Sanctify my life dear Lord as I study your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16:1-22
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit? • Is there any command for me to obey?
Now that the right process had taken place, the Ark is successfully brought into the tent. It is within reach and people can worship God in the place where it is kept. With the Levites in their rightful position, they are able to lead God’s people in regular worship as God had commanded them. We do not have the Ark today, but we have God’s word constantly with us. It is accessible in print, on our computers and phones. The constant reading and meditation on the Word brings us closer to God each day.
Notice what David did thereafter (v.4). Eating and dining together is an important part of our fellowship as members of God’s family. That is missing today in some of our fellowships. ‘The one who reflects deeply will always be grateful to the Lord’, says an adage. David takes the people through their history and reminds them of the faithfulness of God to them as a community of His people. Their remembrance leads to worship and expression of deep gratitude to God.
How can we develop a heart of gratitude and worship? Read vs.8-22 again and outline some reasons for worshipping God.
