Topic: Living Among Rebellious People
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you order my steps today through your word as I meditate on it.
Scripture: Ezekiel 12:1-16
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Vs.1-3 describe the context of Ezekiel’s ministry. It is difficult to preach to rebellious people. If they don’t fear God, how much less His messenger? See John 15:18-21. Nevertheless, God keeps warning about the impending doom. Consider the method Ezekiel used in vs.3-7, and the meaning of this drama (vs.10-11, 12-14).
No one was excluded, though few were spared to show God’s glory even in exile. God’s watchword has remained the same: that, “they will know that I am the Lord” (vs.15,16). Vs.3b, 8-9 show us what God was looking out for while the prophet performed his act. This again reveals the extent God goes with a person, a group or a nation to bring them to salvation. He knows the doom that awaits sinners and does not desire that any should perish.
For this purpose, believers must willingly and diligently accept and fulfil their roles as God’s “signs” to our generation (vs.6,11). That was why God wanted all these things done in broad daylight with all the people watching. Let’s never take God’s grace and patience in vain. As God’s end time ambassadors, we must warn the world of the coming doom.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
• There is a lot of wickedness in the land. Oh Lord forgive us. • Pray that the various efforts at communicating the gospel of Christ will yield immense results in the souls to be won.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Isaiah 58: 7-9; Psalms 33-34; Acts 16:22-40
