Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
This Psalm is a song of praise to the Lord. Note the clauses which king David uses to express praises to the Lord in v.13. Compare this with the kingdoms of this earth which are transient. Read vs.14-20 again and list the things God does to those who fear and put their trust in Him. God has done marvellously for mankind in Christ Jesus.
Those who have put their faith in Christ have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and brought into His marvellous light. “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9, NLT). The Lord indeed fights for and preserves those who trust in Him. The psalmist concludes in v.21 that his mouth will speak the praises of the Lord. All flesh will bless His holy name. What of you? Will you join Johnson Oatman, Jr. to ‘Count your blessing, name them one by one… count your many blessings see what God has done’?
