SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR OCTOBER 15, 2022 (PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD )
TOPIC : PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me understanding and illumination as I ponder on your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: Psalm 31:1‐14
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
MESSAGE
The Psalmist, in his relationship with God, found him reliable in all situations hence he put his trust in Him. Indeed, God is dependable and does not fail those who put their trust in Him. David described God as his rock of refuge, fortress of defence, and his strength (vs.3‐4). David had a firm confidence in God, His character, His promises and His ability to deliver him in times of danger.
See his testimonies about security and salvation in vs.1‐5, about discernment and deliverance in vs.6‐8. He did not fail to recognise and confess his sins which brought about reproach and grief to him (vs.9‐14). May we not neglect to confess our shortcomings to God each time we come into His presence. What action did the Psalmist take after experiencing these problems in vs.5 and 14? Can we emulate David’s example during our times of trouble?
Practice/Word Application
