Topic: Shun jealousy and self‐deceit!

Opening Prayer: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name

Scripture: Luke 20:1‐8

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Notice where the chief priests and the teachers of the law met Jesus, and what they found Him doing (v.1). What do we spend most of our time doing? It is important that we are committed to sharing the gospel of salvation in Christ Jesus and the teaching of God’s word to establish the believers. What do you think of the question the chief priests and teachers of the law asked Jesus in v.2?

Isn’t this a contradiction that the two groups of Jewish leaders who ought to teach the people about the long‐promised Messiah were the same people claiming ignorance of the source of His authority! What can we learn from Jesus’ response to their question (vs.3,8) and the self‐inflicted dilemma of the chief priests and teachers of the law (vs.5‐7)?

God knows all our motives behind everything we say or do and will handle us appropriately. It is fruitless, self‐deceit and shameful to conceal the truth for selfish reasons.

Practice/Word Application
So what? Jesus has all the authority on earth and in heaven (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 28:18).

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Lord Jesus, I recognise you as God and all authority belong to you. Help me never to deny this truth.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Luke 6:38; 2 Chronicles 16, 17; Mark 16
