TOPIC : SUFFERING OF UNBELIEVERS!
Opening Prayer: As I read through this passage dear Lord, let your word bring transformation to my life.
Scripture: Revelation 9:1‐21
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any command for me to obey?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
The locusts described in this passage were not ordinary locusts as is evident from their feeding and physical appearance (vs.7‐10). Note their very specific target, what they are sent to do and their limitations and restrictions (vs.4‐5; cf. Exodus 12:12‐13). In vs.14 and 15, we read of four angels whose purpose was to kill a third of human beings, the Godless world, showing that whatever God was doing was not accidental but according to a precise plan.
How stubborn can mankind be, despite our so‐called civilization! Notice the reasons stated for these plagues and why they would continue (vs.20 &21). Did the survivors learn any lesson from the terrible things they and others around them were going through? In the time of Moses, the Egyptians reacted in the same way to the ten plagues. In John 8:47, Jesus gives a clear distinction between those who belong to God and those who do not belong to him. Notice the main difference between them.
For action: The only way to escape the calamity described in this chapter is to heed God’s message and become follower of Jesus Christ. Take time to examine yourself and take the right action.
• Help me, dear Lord, to hear you when you speak to me and enable me to take the right action.
