SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 4, 2023 (CONTRADICTORY EVIDENCES)
TOPIC: CONTRADICTORY EVIDENCES
OPENING PRAYER: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE: Mark 14:53-65
Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Normally, in Jesus’ days, the Sanhedrin would hold its sessions in ‘the assembly hall in the Temple called the Chamber of Hewn Stone’ (Craig Kenner, Bible Background Commentary: New Testament). Jesus’ trial, however, took place in the High Priest’s residence at an irregular time (night) and was conducted in unusual haste.
Notice the action of Peter who followed Jesus to this point at a distance (v.54). Before Jesus could be sentenced to death, he must be found guilty, but every means to find evidence against Him proved abortive as all the false witnesses contradicted each other. Does this type of things still happen in our judicial systems today?
Observe that Jesus refused to answer any of the charges other than admitting that “I AM the Messiah.” What can we learn from Jesus’ action about how to handle persecution? Note the humiliation Jesus went through for us (v.65). Identify at least four things they did to Jesus in this verse.
And So? Remember that Jesus bore much pain and humiliation for our sake. Avoid complaints or grumbling in your service to Him.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

► Grace to help our heart especially when misunderstood, our motive is misjudged, and our actions are misinterpreted.
► Deliberate decision to let “ourselves” be defrauded instead of giving the devil a chance to destroy God’s work.
► Christian love and patience to be our watch-word in SU Nigeria and in the entire Christendom.
► The Spirit of strife that has ravaged many Ministries, families and individual lives.
► All appearances of evil that will destroy our Christian reputations, aspirations and usefulness.
