Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me spiritual insight into the truth of your word as I study it.

Outline
The sins of Jerusalem were so daring and widespread that Ezekiel was asked to remind them of their seriousness and the looming judgment that was coming on them. Read the passage again and make a list of these sins?
Take special note of the first two – bloodshed and idolatry (vs.2-7). Blood of human beings (mostly innocent victims) is shed through armed robbery, murder, manslaughter, kidnapping, cattle rustling, rioting, mob justice etc. The government officials and policy makers who are charged with protecting the people are themselves guilty of bloodshed (v.6) and mistreatment of elders, the aliens, the widows, and the fatherless (v.7).
How much like what goes on in our nations today? Are you ready to be used of God to cry out against these detestable practices in your society? The bottom line of all the sins listed in this passage is lack of respect either for the law of God or the dignity of fellow human beings. God’s hatred for sin remains unchanged and His judgment against sin remains fierce even today.
