TOPIC : GOD DOES NOT SEE AS MAN SEES

Opening Prayer: Grant me grace dear Lord to apply what you will teach me today as I read this passage.

Scripture: Luke 21:1‐19

Question(s) for Reflection
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

It is very encouraging that Jesus, despite His preaching and teaching engagement in the temple, took special notice of gifts people offered to God (vs.1‐2). His verdict, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others” might have come as a surprise. What is Jesus’ reason for this declaration (vs.3‐4) and how is it an encouragement to us?

The disciples, overwhelmed by the beautiful decoration of the Temple, drew the attention of Jesus to it. What was the shocking response of Jesus (v.6)? Jesus is not excited by the external beauty of the temple since it will soon be destroyed. Full of curiosity, they inquire of the time the great desolation should be and the preceding signs to expect (v.7). Read vs.8‐17 and identify the signs Jesus enumerated.

Today, many are preoccupied with the study of the signs than they are about being careful how they live their lives. While it is alright to know the signs, it is more important to ensure that we stand firm through all the troubles and challenges we may face in this life (v.19).

Practice/Word Application
So What? Be watchful and pray for the grace to stand firm in the faith against all odds till you see Jesus face to face.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
