Topic: Fruitful In The Land Of Affliction

Opening Prayer: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.

Scripture: Genesis 41:46‐57

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Aborted manifesto has caused much stagnation in most of our developing African Countries today. Election aspirants can design and fine‐tune presentable manifestos seasoned with political statements they only intend to sweep under the carpet of power as soon they succeed. Not so with Joseph. Joseph at his prime age of 30 assumed the new office of Prime Minister with commitment to the manifesto he prescribed (vs.47‐49; Luke 4:18‐21).

He was diligent to store the grains effectively, and there was no allegation of any secret storage or secret sales for personal gain. He was transparent and faithful to his task. He was in a context of abundance, but there was no indication that he was corrupted by it. God in turn, prospered and made him fruitful. Under his jurisdiction, Egypt had a sustainable abundance for the famine and became the sole distributor of grains to other nations.

Through it all, Joseph did not forget his background though he was now prosperous and powerful in a foreign country. See confirmation of this in vs.50‐52 (compare Genesis 49:22‐25).

Practice/Word Application
Meditation: Fruitful in the land of affliction (v.52).

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
