TOPIC: THE PRICE OF PURITY
Read: Matthew 23:25-28
Matthew 23:25-28: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
MEMORISE: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8)
There are Christians all over the world, but only few long to see God. To see God requires paying the price of purity. Many Christians don’t understand the price of purity. They find it difficult to walk with God, lacking the knowledge of creating and maintaining personal relationship with Him. Does that describe you? You need God’s help.
The idea of purity has a strong link to man’s mind. Purity occurs in the mind where all thoughts are generated. Purity is total freedom from evil thoughts, being genuinely free from things that adulterate the mind and make it impure whether towards our neighbour or towards God.
When the church lacks the understanding of purity, she will swim in sin and carnality. The power and work of purity in the Church or gathering of brethren is to fight carnality that is the bedrock of sin. The absence of purity gives room for carnality.
The flow of the Holy Spirit in the Church also lies on what attitude she (church) has towards purity, for the Lord does not dwell, move, or work through unholy vessels. The main reason we see manifestations of carnality amidst us today is because we find it difficult to pay the price of purity. In other words, most messages on the pulpit are prepared and delivered in carnality, opposing spirituality.
The price of purity starts at the point of your determination to walk with the Lord, creating and maintaining personal relationship with the Lord through His Spirit, creating a strong hatred towards sin, developing a personal defence against evil, understanding the language of the Holy Spirit, and following strictly His leadership.
1. O Lord, create in me the heart of purity, passionate and make me about living holy.
2. I cut off from every gathering that kills my spirituality, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, restore the spirit of fervent prayer and passion for holy living in our churches today.
