TOPIC: DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR BREATH?
Read Psalms 150:1-6
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
MEMORISE:
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord (Psalms 150:6)
EXPOSITION
In carrying out certain tasks, there are stipulated requirements. For instance, a footballer is expected to have his jersey, soccer boots, and socks to play professionally. Similarly, there is sophistication and know-how in praising God! When it comes to praising the Lord God Almighty, it is the duty of all and sundry. Had the Psalmist said, “Let everyone that has car praise the Lord,” those with no cars would have exempted themselves! Or if it is, “Let everyone that has ‘Camry (Big Daddy) 2021 Model’ praise the Lord”, people with different automobiles would have refused to praise the Lord!
The Psalmist doesn’t say, “Let everyone with PhD Praise the Lord,” Otherwise, first and second degree holders would count themselves out! However, he says, ‘Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!’ Having breath is an indication that you are still alive. No wonder Isaiah insists that only the living shall praise Lord,” (Isa. 38:19).
Some are unappreciative of the fact that they still have their breath! Being alive is an indicator that your Creator still has something great and good in stock for you. You will be amazed, if you discover number of deaths per second. For instance, Medindia reported that about two people die per second, 107 per minute, 6,393 per hour, and 56 million per annum. COVID-19 would have hiked that.
Praises of the Living God are only with the living and not the dead! So, refusal to praise God is like being with those in the land of the silent ones, God forbid. Let God’s praises be your lifestyle. Praise Him as many times as possible on daily basis.
Waking up and finding that you are alive, you must return to God all the glory. It’s a privilege, an amazing grace, faithfulness, love, unquantifiable and endless mercy of the Lord for sparing your life. God’s grace keeps you. His Love for you surpasses and His mercy overcomes every condemnation against you. Cultivate the habit of praising Him always, for you still have your breath.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Let Your praises, Lord, continually be in my mouth.
2. Think of reasons to thank the Lord, and begin to appreciate them as you count your God-given blessings.
3. Pray that children would be more appreciative of their parents’ kind gestures, so that they can appreciate God’s blessings better, and enjoy the blessings in gratitude.
