TOPIC: Saviour of the Fearful, Doubtful and Needy
TEXT: MATTHEW 14:22-33
“Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”” Matthew 14:31 NIV
Around year 2013, a group of skydivers jumped from an airplane, among them was a twenty-five year old sky diver, James Lee.
Leaving the plane, one of his co-divers accidentally hit Lee on the head making him unconscious as he tumbled mid-air. His friend who noticed that something was wrong moved close to him and helped him to deploy his parachute. Lee eventually landed safely.
The disciples of Jesus were buffeted by a raging wind storm and fear. From a distance, they thought Jesus was a ghost. Jesus revealed Himself to them and asked them to be courageous. Peter, escaping from the troubled ship thought that the invitation from Jesus would make walking on water easy for him.
He left the ship to walk on water like Jesus, but soon realized that the invitation of Jesus did not remove the danger around him and began to sink. Crying out to Jesus, he was rescued.
Trouble is part of experiences of life whether you are a Christian or not. As believers, we must remember that we have a God that is able to save us in times of trouble. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Therefore, in times of troubles and trials, stay close to the LORD and He will rescue you.
Insight:
Our greatest need is ensuring that Jesus is near us every time.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to truly value your presence and depend on You always.
RBT Passage: Psalms 120-133
