TOPIC: REGRET FOR NOT HEARING GOD’S WORD
Bible Text: Romans 10:18-21
“But I ask: did they not hear? Of course they did: “their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” Romans 10:18, NIV
Huge amount of money is spent yearly in organizing seminars and workshops on virtually every area of human endeavours. This is mainly to ensure that people get things right and do things rightly. Despite all these, Africa and particularly Nigeria is still struggling with development
This is similar to the state of the Jews that Paul describes in today’s passage. If there is any people that will say they have not heard of the word of God, it should not be the Israelites. He used three clear examples of David in Psalm 19:4, Moses in Deuteronomy 32:21, and Isaiah warning in Isaiah 65:1-2 as evidences against them. His conclusion is that the Israelites’ refusal to hear the Good News is a deliberate action on their part.
Many people in the world today are like the Jews of that period who hear the Word everyday but are living contrary to the Word of God. In this world of technology, the Gospel is being propagated through various means such as print, electronic, and social media. How we use the Word of God we hear every day will be used to judge us when Christ shall return. Think about that.
Insight: Hearing is nothing without listening, listening is nothing without acting.
Prayer: Father, may I not be found guilty of Your Word.
