Topic: PROMISE REALIZED BY FAITH NOT LAW
Bible Text: Romans 4:13-1
“It was not through law that Abraham and his off-springs received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.” Romans 4:13, NIV
One Christian writer compared saving faith with learning to swim. Swimming is actually hard work. Once inside the water, one needs to move the arms and legs in tandem with the body in order to stay afloat and move.
That is tedious. However, before you can jump into the water, you must believe that the water is able to bear you up. *Saving faith is first believing that Jesus Christ can bear you up and you can then swim in the ocean of His love and mercy.*
Apostle Paul argued that Abraham received and believed God’s promises long before the law was given. He received and believed God’s promises before he did any work or was circumcised. He was not justified by works, he simply believed in God and what He promised him. Faith happens in the heart through believe before one receives ability to keep the law. Faith in
God actually propels and implies obeying the law. The only currency that pays for God’s promises is absolute faith in Him and His power.
How much faith do you have in God? Have you been trying to buy your way into God’s heart by works? The only thing that can get you to God is faith. It is this faith that empowers you to please God.
Insight: You are justified by faith alone, so live by it.
Prayer: LORD, dwell in my heart through faith.
