Topic: ALL FAMILIES ARE BLESSED THROUGH ABRAHAM
Bible Text: Genesis 12:1-9
“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the people on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3 (NIV)
While preparing for a dance party, a young lady placed a light crown ornamented with silver stars on her head. Her little sister climbed the chair to admire the beautiful headdress and exclaimed, “How I wish I can win a soul and then win a star to my crown in heaven.” The elder sister thereafter went to the party. Troubled by those words, she ran back home and gave her life to Jesus.
When God called Abraham, He never begged or threatened him, but offered him great promises if he would obey. In verses 2-3, God uttered five “I will” as promises to Abraham and one “you will” as a reference to him becoming a blessing (12:2d). “…and all the people on earth will be blessed through you.” (12:3e).
Abraham became a blessing to the Jews. The Jews have become a blessing to the world because through them, Jesus Christ, the seed of Abraham blessed the world through redemption by His blood.
What you do today can have effects (either positive or negative) on your generation. Your action and inaction transcends you, it sometimes forms the foundation for others. Consciously improve on your relationship with God so that through you your generation can be blessed.
Insight: You were created and saved to be a blessing to others.
Prayer: LORD, make me a blessing to my generation.
