TOPIC: WHERE IS JUSTICE?
Bible Text: Ecclesiastes 3: 16-22
And I saw something else under the sun: in the place of judgment- wickedness was there, in the place of justice- wickedness was there” Ecclesiastes 3:16, NIV
MESSAGE
A woman lost her husband at a tender age of 27 having been married for 4years with two children. After the burial, the siblings of the dead husband accompanied by the mother told the widow that she has no inheritance in the family because she has no male child. They sent her packing without hope and there was nothing she could do about it.
Like the narrated story, the preacher was concerned and disappointed about the level of perversion of justice and judgment. The truth was absent; the poor were marginalized; integrity, justice, equity and fairness had been compromised for selfish interests and ambition.
The judiciary that is supposed to be the last hope for the common people was a disappointment. The preacher encouraged himself with the thought of a final uncompromising Judge, who cannot be bought over and will give the final judgment.
In what ways are you perverting justice in your little corner? When you are supposed to be an arbiter, are you not bending the rules? Give justice where it is required.
In all things, be fair and uncompromising. Be just, as your heavenly father is just. Are you experiencing injustice presently? Take the case to God in prayer. He is a righteous Judge and He will never disappoint you.
Insight:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” Martin Luther King Jnr.
Prayer:
Lord, let righteousness reigns and grant salvation to the oppressed.
