Topic: APPROACH GOD WITH A PURE HEART
Bible Text: Hebrews 10:19-22
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” Hebrews 10:22, NIV
Message
You worship and honour God based on the state of your heart. In the words of Bianca Cruz, “A pure heart is one of the best assets a person can have. It is precious and rare, at the same time strong and worthy. A pure heart cannot be taught in class; it cannot be instructed or read in a book”.
The description above is exactly the kind of heart that today’s passage is referring to. The author of Hebrews describes the nature of the pure heart that Christians are to have when approaching God as one that is sincere, that has full assurance, and is devoid of guilty conscience. A heart that has been washed with the pure water from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Whenever you approach God in worship, do it with a pure, strong and worthy heart. Remember, the prayer of the unrighteous is an abomination to God. A heart that is not pure, holding grudges, malice, full of hatred and dislike for others, cannot be acceptable before God. If our worship will ever be acceptable to God, we must purge our heart of all filthiness. Check the state of your heart always.
Insight: The state of your heart will determine your act of worship and the result.
Prayer: Create in me, a clean, pure, and new heart, O Lord.
