TOPIC: JESUS IS LORD AND MESSIAH
Bible Text: Acts 2:22-36
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah” Acts 2:36, NIV
MESSAGE
The phrase, “Jesus is Lord” is common on stickers, program brochures, bulletins and signboards of many churches and fellowship groups. Confessing, writing and singing about the Lordship of Jesus do not automatically confer His Lordship. He becomes the Lord over your life when you deliberately submit in humility and love to His righteous rule and command.
Peter rose boldly after being filled with the Holy Spirit to confront the amazed Jewish onlookers with the truth about the Messiah. He reminded them of the prophecy of David about the resurrection of Jesus.
He further declared that the same Jesus, being Lord and Messiah was responsible for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on them. Peter used the occasion to point their attention to Jesus not themselves. He saw the crowd of enquirers as a mission field ready for harvest into the kingdom.
Jesus the Messiah was anointed to deliver mankind from sin. Have you been delivered from sin? Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life? Do you truly seek Him for approval before you take decisions? If He is indeed your Lord and Messiah, He must be your first consultant.
Insight: With or without your honour and submission to Jesus, He is Lord.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to live for You daily in humility, love and total submission.
