Scripture Union SU Daily Guide 30 September 2021 | Outline
The Prophet had yet another revelation of what is happening in Jerusalem. (As at the date of writing this chapter, Ezekiel was already in exile in Babylon. He gave the message to fellow exiles concerning those left behind in Jerusalem.) He used a parable of the cooking pot to express what Nebuchadnezzar was about to do to Jerusalem.
The people who were left in Jerusalem thought they were the ‘choice meat’. Ezekiel declared that though the people thought they were safe and secure inside the “cooking pot” of Jerusalem, there they shall meet their own destruction. Read 2 Chronicles 36:13-21.
It is sad to note that the cause for Jerusalem’s destruction was the persistent rebellion against God by the remnants in the city despite constant reminders and warnings from the true prophets. How often we too ignore the promptings of the preachers and the Holy Spirit to turn away from our evil ways. We must take the warning in v.14 seriously before it is too late (read it again).
Practice/Word Application
• So: Reflect on what you may be passing through today. Could this be God seeking for your attention?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Do some deep soul search and, if need be, cry to Him in repentance! • Pray for daily devotional publishers who are helping Christians to meet God daily through bible reading and prayer.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalm 62:1-2
1 Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Bible Reading: Ezek. 24-26; John 13:21-38
