TOPIC: DAVID DANCES BEFORE THE ARK
Bible Text: 2 Samuel 6:12-19
“Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the LORD with all his might… bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets” 2 Samuel 6:14-15, NIV
Dancing has always been part of music and celebration. In contemporary times, dancing has become commercialized and some of the new dancing styles are imported into the Church by ungodly and confused youth. Whereas, believers are meant be what that the world will follow.
David danced passionately before the Ark to celebrate its arrival after a long period of absence in Israel. He danced with all his might before the Lord with the giving of required sacrifices.
It should be noted that he danced with his heart focused on God, not men. He expressed his gratitude to God without seeking attention and applause from humans like we see in some churches today.
We need to learn from David that our dancing and praises should be to the glory of God. Young people should not learn and import dance styles from worldly songs to church and fellowship as this contradicts the Word of God.
The presence of God can only manifest when the children of God maintain purity, even in their dance. We should constantly seek to show the world the beauty in God by our actions and not give wrong impressions to the world. Be conscious of how you praise God.
Insight: Dance to the glory of God, not to gratify the flesh.
Prayer: Lord, help me to use my dance to honour and bring You glory in Jesus name.
