Topic: CULTIVATE GRATEFULNESS FOR ACTS OF HEALING
Bible Text: Leviticus 13:45-56; Luke 17:11-19
“Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? ”Luke 17:17-18, NIV
A blind boy sat by the steps of a building for hours, with a hat and an inscription: “I am blind please help”. Only few coins were in his hat when a man came. He dropped his own coin into the hat and then changed the inscription to: “Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it.” Within minutes, the hat was almost full as people trooped to give him money.
Leprosy was considered a great danger so much that even fabrics suspected to be contaminated by defiling molds were burnt the moment the priest confirms it, and lepers were kept in isolation.
The ten lepers saw Jesus and cried for pity. Jesus, wanting the priest to confirm their healing, requested them to go to the priest. Soon, they all realized they had been healed. However, for nine of them, it was a task too much to return to appreciate their healer.
*Majority of us are like the nine lepers who forget to appreciate God. We must always thank God for all blessings especially the gift of sound health and a sound mind. Also, show appreciation to those who have made good impact in your life. Appreciate God genuinely today.*
Insight: Gratitude is so important to God that it must not be overlooked.
Prayer: LORD, give me a heart of gratitude to appreciate You and those that have brought blessings to my life.
