TOPIC: Live In Your Zone
SCRIPTURE: There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink and make himself enjoy good in his labor. Even this, I have seen, is the gift of God. – Ecclesiastes 2:24 (AMPC)
Dave once turned down a nice raise and prestigious promotion at work because he had observed other people in the same position and realized that the job would be extremely stressful. He didn’t want to live that way, so he declined, and I think that’s o
ne of the wisest things I’ve ever seen anyone do.
Some people would not have demonstrated Dave’s courage and wis¬dom, because they would have wanted the higher paycheck and the opportunity to be viewed as “successful.” But there’s surprisingly little long-term satisfaction, and often a lot of pressure, in such a situation. I believe there would be much more happiness and much less stress in the world if people would take time to figure out their “sweet spot” and stay there. If you’ve found it, don’t let it go!
When you have opportunities that will provide a promotion or increase profits for your company, but you know they will not be healthy for you, have the courage to say no.
Your perfect zone is waiting for you out there somewhere. If you aren’t in it, get busy looking for it!
Are you in a position that causes you to compromise your health, your family time, or your destiny in God? As fast as you can wisely do so, set yourself free and get into a better situation.
Prayer Starter: Father, help me to know what my “zone” is and to stay in it, always. In Jesus’ name, amen.
