CHANNELS DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR JUNE 20, 2022 (WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND)
TOPIC : WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND
Text: (Judges 14 vs. 12 – 19)
The truth is that trusting and befriending is an exclusive part of man. I personally do not want to believe that man could run out of need to trust and confined in another but another undeniable truth is that man is evil and man is equally wicked. Most times those you call your friends are actually the enemies you have got which without them you could have no enemy. Especially when you are on the advantage of success and professional progress, their response and relation to these are not mostly friendly. In the ancient history we read a story that says, before king Ahmed of Ottoman went to war, he locked his wife (the beautiful queen) in a private room and gave the key to his best friend and said: “If I am not back in few days, open the room and she is yours. He climbed his horse and gallops off towards the battlefield. Half an hour later, the king noticed a cloud of dust behind him. He stopped and saw his friend galloping very fast towards him. “What’s wrong?” Asked the king. Out of breath, his friend… responded: you gave me the wrong key”. What?? Can you imagine! He didn’t even wait for the said 4 days before trying the keys. In my little days in this life, I can beat my chest and tell you that true friends are very few. It takes God to stand by you even more than friends. Trust is frequently broken and enmity mostly replace friendship; always ask God for true friends who can defend your integrity even in your absence. Sometimes pain isn’t so painful, it is painful because it came from friend. Verse 20 of today’s scripture says, “But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend (Best man). I pray with you today that every pain inflicted by a friend or through friendship is sane (healed) now in Jesus name, Amen!
