SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR APRIL 1, 2022 (AVOID UNHEALTHY COMPETITION)
TOPIC: AVOID UNHEALTHY COMPETITION
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:27-30
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27, NIV
Two Giraffes were fighting over territory and a pride of hungry Lions were the spectators. As the fighting became intense and fierce the Giraffes ran out of strength. The Lions simply took advantage of their tiredness. One of the Giraffes managed to escape because the Lions were targeting the other. This is the danger of unhealthy competition.
The church is a common ground for all Christians and not a platform for unhealthy competitions and rivalries. God has established order in the church by ensuring that every member finds relevance in different areas of service. Everyone is expected to work uniquely in his or her competence according to God’s grace. The area of someone’s strength maybe another person’s weakness; find your place of service in the house of the Lord!
Determine to cultivate a healthy relationship with every member of the church. View your gift and relevance in the church as complementary to those of others. Do not compete for attention or seek to suppress other members’ contributions. We are the body of Christ and each one of us is a part of that body. Hands and legs don’t compete, eyes and mouth don’t compete; they all complement each other.
Insight: God expects His children to serve Him in unison and togetherness.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be an instrument of unity in Your church.
