MESSAGE
In the game of football, a team comprises of eleven players who play the different roles on the field. From the goal keeper to defenders and mid-fielders, up onto attackers, they play together both to safeguard their own goal post and to also mount pressure on the opponents to score goals and win the game. Of course, the coach also plays an important role on the sideline.
Similarly, God’s grace offers Christians diverse gifts to be used within the proportion of faith and to edify the whole church. Every child of God should identify his or her gifts and the scope of the workings of such gifts alongside others’ gifts.
Therefore, as you identify your gifts, recognize also the gifts of others and the scope of operations of your gifts to ensure that you combine perfectly with others to build God’s church.
The gifts of the Spirit are given to build up and not to tear down; they serve the purpose of complementing and not competition. God’s gifts are not to be used for selfish reasons rather, these gifts should be used to glorify God.
Insight: Despite all that God has endowed you with, He needs more than that to build His church.
Prayer: Help me Lord, to identify my gifts and to respect those of other Christians.
