Scripture Union Daily Guide 10 February 2022 MESSAGE
Our studies in Ezekiel 40‐42 have lots of detailed measurements which are not easy to understand. If possible, find a Study Bible which includes a diagram of the temple which Ezekiel saw in the vision. Rather than explain the numerous measurements, these Notes will explain the big picture, starting with a general introduction today.
Twenty years before, this same prophet was shown a similar vision of the temple in Jerusalem. It is recorded in chapters 8‐11. That earlier vision was of judgement. God showed the prophet all the terrible sins which His people were committing in the temple (e.g. 8:10‐12). As a result, Israel was defeated by their enemies and carried far away into exile; and the Spirit of God departed from the temple (10:18‐20).
In exile, they began to repent, wondering if the temple would ever be rebuilt. This is the background of these chapters. It was from exile that the Spirit of God took Ezekiel back to Jerusalem in this vision of restoration and renewal. He is shown a glorious new temple to which the Spirit of God returns.
Practice/Word Application
For meditation: Our God is the God of justice. He punishes sin. Our God is the God of love. He forgives and restores when sinners repent. See Romans 6:1‐2. Thank God for His justice and love.

O HAPPY DAY, THAT FIXED MY CHOICE
1.O happy day that fixed my choice
On Thee, my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
And tell its raptures all abroad.
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray,
And live rejoicing every day;
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
2.’Tis done—the great transaction’s done;
I am my Lord’s, and He is mine;
He drew me and I followed on,
Rejoiced to own the call divine.
3.Now rest, my long-divided heart,
Fixed on this blissful center, rest;
Here have I found a nobler part,
Here heav’nly pleasures fill my breast.
4.High heav’n that hears the solemn vow,
That vow renewed shall daily hear!
Till in life’s latest hour I bow,
And bless, in death, a bond so dear.
