SEEK DAILY (NBC) DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 4, 2022 (BE A RELIABLE DISCIPLE)
TOPIC: BE A RELIABLE DISCIPLE
Bible Text: 2 Timothy 2:1-2
Memory Verse: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people
who will also be qualified to teach others.” – 2 Timothy 2:2, NIV
Being reliable is one of the most valued traits in a person. It simply means doing what a person says he or she will do. Other words for reliable are: dependable, consistent, steadfast, unswerving, unfailing and trustworthy e.t.c. People who can be trusted to follow through in the little things are the people who can be trusted with the bigger things.
The above is in line with Apostle Paul’s charge to Timothy his spiritual son. He did not only encourage Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus but also urged him to share with others he knew are reliable (Christians and leaders) what he has heard from Paul. These reliable ones too are to teach others, and there should be a continual reciprocation. In essence, sharing of the message effectively can best be handled by
reliable people.
When we gave our lives to Christ, we were more or less saying we will serve Christ and spread the message of the gospel. God is relying on us as faithful and reliable disciples to share the message of the kingdom with others. Reliable disciples are those who are faithfully discharging the task of sharing the gospel message to all. Desire to be one.
Insight: The three R’s of winning teams are Reliability, Results and Relationships.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please make me a reliable vessel in your vineyard.
