SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 2, 2022 (GET OUT OF THE CROWD)
TOPIC: GET OUT OF THE CROWD
Law crowds wore travelling with JESUS, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:25-26, NIV
Political gatherings are known for one thing – Mass Crowd. These mass gatherings could either be people who come together to share their support, or an apathy; in most cases it could be a paid gathering of people supporting politicians who are vying for political posts, mostly for their own personal gains. More often than not, both the crowd and the politicians are all out in pretense for selfish reasons and their own personal interest.
Just like recent times, large crowd were following Jesus but not all of them were intentional about their journey with 1-Urn. Jesus knew this; hence, He instructed that His true followers are those who put aside all their personal interests as well as their lives to follow Him. Jesus’ qualification for anyone to be His disciple is to carry their cross daily and place Him above all.
You must strive to be totally different from all who call themselves believers of Christ and claim to be Christians but live a life contrary to that of a true disciple. Are you a true follower of Christ? Are you following Christ for selfish reasons? Make a decision to become a genuine follower of Christ. Remember, if you do not place Christ above all your earthly relationship and desires, you cannot call yourself a disciple of Christ.
Insight: We are called to fill the church with disciples and not members.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, count me worthy to be a true disciple of Christ.
