SEEK DAILY (NBC) DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR FEBRUARY 1, 2022 (THE SPIRIT GIVES WISDOM)
TOPIC: THE SPIRIT GIVES WISDOM
`I thought, ‘Age should speak; advanced years should teach Wisdom.’ But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.” Job 32:7-8, NIV
Wisdom is the ability to make sensible decisions and good judgments based on personal or accumulated knowledge and experiences of life. It is believed in today’s world that wisdom is principally gotten from schools, from scientific discoveries, from reading books, and from life experiences. As tenable as this may sound, theyhave proved unsatisfactory in recent times. Elihu challenges Job and his older friends who believe that their experience in life place Elihu the youngest at the lower rung of wisdom.
Elihu response was instructive “I am young inage, and you are old; that is why I was fearful, not daring to tell you what I know. I thought, ‘Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.’ But it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty that gives them understanding.”
Rightly put, wisdom is not about age, it is God that gives wisdom and understanding that make men understand what is right. Inasmuch as secular knowledge and study of books have added value, the wisdom of God is of more importance in order tounderstand what is right. The wisdom of God is more important than any form of understanding, knowledge and intellect that any worldly source can give you.
